All of our systems are manufactured using three main types of stainless steel.
Specifically developed for exhaust applications by Jaguar Cars and now also extensively used for catalytic converters Type 409 (Ferritic) combines good elevated temperature corrosion resistance with medium strength and good formability making it an ideal material for exhaust systems.
Defined as a Chromium-Nickel austenitic alloy and having excellent corrosion resistance qualities Type 304 (Austenitic) has a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, combined with a maximum of 0.08% carbon.
Widely used in the marine industry Type 316 has excellent saline corrosion resistance properties and plays in integral role in the manufacture of our systems.
We have a complete silencer manufacturing and assembly line, utilising pneumatic baffle and roving (packing) insertion to acccurately achieve the sound quality our customer's require. During prototyping our stainless steel silencers can be tested in three frequency bands to check the success of their noise absorption rates. This gives us a benchmark which we use to test all new packing materials as they come on the market to guage their effectiveness.
We believe strongly that well trained and motivated staff are the key to manufacturing a successful product and Double S Exhausts offer free external training to our employees, leading to several current staff achieving from City & Guilds to Degree Qualifications. This guarantees that the team making your products are trained professionals in their field.
Using CAD design, CNC mandrel forming and being one of the few manufacturers worldwide in our industry to use computerised measuring and testing equipment we provide the highest levels of quality control. Quality Management System to BS EN ISO 9001:2008 Certificate # GB00816.
